Extended Family Session

This beautiful family asked me to take pictures at their family reunion where only a few hours overlapped where everyone was there, so when that time was high noon with the sun barreling down from the very top of the sky casting harsh shadows, we just had to roll with it.
This is my friend, Tara (below) and her beautiful family that I got to spend a couple of hours with. Her parents (pictured above with their posterity) are in our church ward and we love them. They are my youngest's primary teachers and everyone lovingly calls them "Grandma and Grandpa," which I feel speaks volumes of the type of wonderful people they are. :)

Grandma and Grandpa with all their grandchildren above. We took individual shots of all the grandkids and I swear every one of them are super photogenic!

I had to throw this on here because I love this moment between a dad and his daughter.

Overbay Extended Family Session

Over Thanksgiving weekend, I got to do my first extended family session (besides the huge Dekker clan, but that's my own family, so I don't count it.) My mom got to come and be my assistant and I loved having her along and she really was a huge help! Thanks Mom! I was really nervous about getting all the shots that were needed in the amount of time we had before the sun started to set, but I seriously love how these turned out! I am sharing my absolute favorites from the session. I think the very last picture may be my favorite posterity picture ever.

Reunion Sessions

For the past several years, my in-laws have asked me to be in charge of photography at our family reunions every summer. I love it. They know I feel so comfortable with a camera in my hands and they are so supportive of me striving to improve my photography skills. I took our group family photo as well as shots of each individual family. I feel so lucky and blessed to be part of this amazing group of people and call them family. (I actually took these in 2010. These are my favorite reunion shots I have taken in the past three years, so I'm just sharing these so you get the idea.)

The entire Dekker clan in 2010. There's still the same number today. No new babies yet.

Black & Dekker Shoot

As my Christmas gift to my mom, I offered to do a photo shoot of our family to update the picture in her house. We were all together for the first time in six years over Thanksgiving, so we planned our session for the day after Thanksgiving. Unfortunately my youngest woke up that morning with a fever of 102, so we ended up having to do a spontaneous shoot the last day we were together for the weekend. We had to do the shoot at noon, which was terrible lighting, but we made it work with what we had. We took these pictures in my mom's friend's backyard and I can not wait to go back and do a shoot there this summer when everything is in full bloom! It was beautiful in the middle of winter, I can only imagine how green and amazing it is later this year! I, of course, had to sneak in a few shots of just my family and a couple of ones of my boys to update my own wall.
